Thematic Working Group on the Protection Priorities for Syrians is launched

On Wednesday 26 October 2022, the United Nations Office of the Special Envoy for Syria (OSE-Syria) launched the fourth thematic working group in the framework of the CSSR. The group consists of 29 Syrian civil society experts, practitioners and researchers on humanitarian and human rights issues. The Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Ms. Najat Rochdi provided opening remarks and affirmed her commitment to engage systematically with Syrian experts and civil society actors to ensure a shared understanding of the key concerns and benefit from their knowledge and expertise.

The members of the thematic working group on the protection priorities for Syrians will collaborate online for the next few months and develop policy recommendations on the key protection concerns and priorities of Syrians and how they can be addressed through a political process in line with SCR2254. The members of this group would then be invited to present their work at an in-person meeting in Geneva.
