Nine years after its inception following the adoption of UNSCR 2254, swisspeace authored a paper on the Civil Society Support Room (CSSR) which looks at its origins, set-up, design, engagement modalities, and makes recommendations for its future outlook.
A timely effort following the fall of the Assad regime, this paper represents an opportunity to take stock of and reflect back on the work of the CSSR and consider options for how this track may adapt to the new realities of the transition in Syria.
The paper relied on desk work, semi-structured interviews and an open workshop involving Syrian civil society actors and other stakeholders. It is available in both English and Arabic.
